The first international deployment of AI (8112) Universal Coupon marks an important milestone for the non-profit standards organization.
DALLAS, TX, June 29, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Coupon Bureau, a non-profit supporting the Universal Coupon standard, today announced an initiative to support the Catalina Marketing Japan integration of retailer POS with the AI (8112) Universal Coupon standard throughout the retail marketplace in Japan.
As the Universal Coupon standard emerges globally, it is important for The Coupon Bureau to support providers such as Catalina Marketing Japan, who are at the forefront of adoption on behalf of its retail and manufacturing clientele. As the leader in the marketing and promotion business, Catalina Marketing Japan will be able to offer true omnichannel marketing campaigns, utilizing both paper and digital, which feature the next standard in coupon security, AI (8112).
The new AI (8112) standard will enable real-time validation of coupon offers at retail, also creating a new universal standard for single-use offers. In addition, the new offering will make real-time validation backward compatible with the current EAN-13 barcode that is the current standard in the Japanese market.
Furthermore, participation in The Coupon Bureau ecosystem will enable single-use real-time validation of coupon offers at the merchant, creating a new global universal standard for both paper and digital offers.
"We're so excited to support Catalina Marketing Japan to bring real-time validation and security to their merchants and shoppers in the Japanese retail environment. It has been a unique use case to bring forward the new AI (8112) standard, while supporting real-time validation for the current Japanese format, EAN13. It makes the transition to the new Universal Coupon standard more seamless for retailers and shoppers alike," said Brandi Johnson, CEO of The Coupon Bureau.
